My on and off relationship with cell phones

Recently a friend of mine mentioned I'm like the "Sonali Kulkarni's Time table Boyfriend" in the movie Dil chahta hai, after reading my blogs.
(Of course it wasn't a pleasant compliment!)
I told him as humbly as I could (trying to control myself from not hitting him on the head) that I'm a woman... and women are mostly good when it comes to details!

So this one is dedicated to the number of Mobile phones I've had till now and their traumatic demises!

Year 2001: First time I held a cell phone! the fat Ericsson Phone my dad bought with the BSNL connection!

Year 2002: Nokia introduced 3310.. However, got that fat Ericsson phone.. dad isn't sure if I'm OLD enough to handle"high-end" mobile phones.. (I'm in COLLEGE then for god sake!)

However, I dropped it mistakenly in a drain!

Year 2003: Finally buy a small (second hand of course) Motorola phone with a v small green screen and no vibration mode!

Apparently "Sehwag ki maa ka phone aaya hai" was a v famous advertisement then! So everytime my phone rang.. my class-mates screamed --"Chadha ki maa ka phone aaya hai!... and coincidently it always was my mum's call!
So one day finally the cell phone died after being hit against a class-mates head.. just as he screamed "chadha ki maa ka phone aaya hai"!! (his head was sadly stronger than my cell phone)

Year 2004: Although my parents are pretty upset when I told them about the second cell phone they did buy me a pretty little Nokia 2300 with pink and purple buttons on it!

The first day of 4th semester.. thinking my new cell phone is going to be the thing.. and behold.... I see another girl in the class with an even cooler phone with a Camera!

Too upset "crushed" would be the right words to describe feelings....

I felt like a cave woman!

It was of course very expensive!
Then it dawns on me that my father has betrayed me saying that (the now silly looking -- to me-- pink and purple buttons) was going to be the new thing that people would talk about!

Totally want the new phone so yelled, cajoled, sweet-talked my dad into buying it for me.. BUT.. its my dad.. always the smarter guy..! He did promise that I would get it BUT after I complete my B.E.!

Year 2005: Fifth semester -- fought with dad and gave him back his silly looking phone.. (for 2 months..)

Realised life is tough without mobile phones..

Dad misplaced that silly looking phone (thank god!)

Got a RIM phone now (again a v sorry little thing)

Year 2006: Misplaced the sorry little RIM (left it in the college bus) and the battery of the other RIM phone wore off because of excess usage.. (apparently! according to dad of course)

(RIM to RIM free calling/messaging.. what do u expect!)

I complete my B.E and FINALLY get Nokia 3600..

Year 2007, November :Dropped the love of my life wala cell-phone on my Birthday!

Year 2007, December: Bought Nokia 3500 (again a slim, sorry looking phone with a pathetic camera)

Year 2008, February: Someone flicked MY cell-phone from the trunk! The trunk of my activa! (Although I'd pretended to lock it... I didn't expect anyone to flick phones from the trunk... at least not inside the RTO office!)

Year 2008, February: Buy another sturdy, steel bodied phone the v same day.. (Still not able to get over the shock of someone flicking MY phone!)

Year 2008, June: The then boy friend (now husband)... got angry over some silly little issue(as always) and smashed my phone against the wall!

Year 2008, July: He bought me a Nokia N73, (second hand again!)

Just noticed the phone goes haywire every time it rains.. calls random people!
Oh well.. have to make do.. no choice!

Year 2010, June: Bought Micromax Bling! It Twinkles!

Year 2010, September: Dropped the phone from the balcony.. (I still have the dead corpse of it)

Back to still hay-wired Nokia N73 and an almost broken stuck together some how, cello-taped keypad!

Year 2010, November: Got another Micromax Bling! (Surprise birthday gift from husband!!)

Still using it.. its February 2011 now.. Keeping my fingers crossed.. hoping this one would last a little longer!
